Vote for NDC so I gain my career back – Mzbel

0

The highlife musician, Mzbel, has cried out to Ghanaians to vote for John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress so she can be able to do music again.

According to MzBel, her career has suffered since she openly declared support for the National Democratic Congress.

In an interview, the ‘Yopoo’ hitmaker narrated some situations where event organizers will end their interest in her services because of hostility from a government official.

“I haven’t stopped singing but the problem is I’ve been facing a lot of challenges because of politics. For instance, when I’m invited to perform and the guest of honor is a government official, his people can threaten to boycott the event because I would be performing. Because of that, I’m no longer being invited for shows,” she revealed

History hooks up with Samini over Akufo-Addo endorsement

0

With regard to four years ago, dancehall act Samini cautioned his colleagues in the entertainment industry to desist from endorsing political candidates ahead of elections.

Though this advice was not largely accepted as several artists blatantly plastered their faces alongside political candidates in the elections at the time, others were keen on keeping it sacred.

His reasons were that there were divisive tendencies in the political opinions of people in the entertainment industry.

Aside that, Samini was convinced that, entertainment personalities and their families become easy targets for political junkies who may have ill motives.

He said in an interview with JoyNews’ Let’s Talk Entertainment in 2016; “I don’t think it’s too healthy to do that as a people’s person because you represent the masses and you have various political affiliations listening to your music at the same time, without any political intentions. So, you appeal to a broader audience at a go.”

“So, when you take sides in serious issues like this; issues concerning serious decision-making for the country’s welfare and you take sides and just maybe you happen to offend a huge fan by that move, it goes a long way to affect your career going forward,” Samini told the Joy News reporter.

Four years down the line Samini has joined the #4more4Nana campaign trail.

A sudden and surprising endorsement deal several Ghanaians did not anticipate.

Sealing his endorsement deal is the release of a song titled ‘Kpoyaka’. He used the song to hammer on the achievements of the governing New Patriotic Party.

I wasn’t aware Sarkodie’s song was an endorsement song – Kuami Eugene

0

The Management of highlife musician Kuami Eugene has described rapper Sarkodie as dishonest.

According to them, the reigning Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year was not aware of the political lyrics in the song.

Sarkodie and Kuami Eugene have been slammed for the song titled ‘Happy Day’.

In the song, Sarkodie apologized for criticizing President Akufo-Addo in the past because he has managed to end dumsor.

This portion of the song has drawn condemnation from supporters and senior officials of the NDC.

Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu has wondered why the musician made claims that Nana Addo resolved dumsor.

”Sarkodie or any other musician whose career is at dying can receive any amount of money to endorse a political party. However, the endorsement message should not be punctuated with naked lies or embellish with sickly untruths. It is an incontrovertible fact that, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama solved dumsor. And there is overwhelming evidence to this fact potentiated with data. Data cannot be hobbled with some low bars musical lyrics,” the Minority leader posted on his Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Kuami Eugene says he was unaware the song was an endorsement for the president.

“Sarkodie only sent me the first verse of his rap which did not contain the endorsement for Nana Addo to aid me to do the chorus. It was only at the video shoot that we got to know of the second verse, we confronted Sark’s management, and they denied. I am uncomfortable, I still don’t know Sarkodie’s motive for the song. It will have an effect on my career, I wasn’t ready to vouch for any political party openly, it will not end here,” Kuami Eugene said.

I’m very happy Sarkodie has been unveiled – DKB

0

The self-acclaimed King of comedy Derrick Kobina Bonney aka DKB has announced he is very happy the Tema-based rapper Sarkodie has been exposed following the release of his new song titled Happy Day.

After the release of the song which features Kuami Eugene, words in the song from Sarkodie pointed it out that, the song was an endorsement to the sitting president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In the song, Sarkodie mentioned some achievements of Nana Addo and asked that, Ghanaians should give him the nod for 4more years.

Kuami Eugene, hours after the release, came out to say he never knew the song was an endorsement for the NPP.

DKB in a video shared on his social media page is heard saying he is the happiest man because Sarkodie has been exposed.

According to him, Kuami Eugene should have consulted people before jumping on a song with him but because he is Sarkodie, he (Kuami) thinks he has seen his God and would have a song with him.

Sharing his experience, he narrated that, during the build-up to the ‘dumsor must stop’ vigil organised by Yvonne Nelson some years ago, Sarkodie endorsed the vigil and was even hyping it on social media which was a very good thing.

He went on to say that, he was very happy because he knew Sarkodie would stand and face anyone that comes to prevent them on the day of the vigil.

He was however very surprised when a few days to the peaceful vigil, he heard Sarkodie had traveled out of the country because he didn’t want to join them.

DKB described Sarkodie as a trickster and warned that people should be very wary of him since he can raise your hopes and then smash them within a twinkle of an eye.

I didn’t want to be a part of all this – Kuami Eugene voice out

0

The Artiste of the Year, Kuami Eugene has responded to claims that, he and his management have publicly endorsed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The artiste has denied and refuted any links that he was endorsing the President and the NPP in a new song he was featured on.

Kuami Eugene, in an interview on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, confessed that, he “had no idea that ‘Nana Toaso’ was going to be in the song”.

“All I knew was that, Sarkodie sent his first verse so I listened and put together a chorus. That’s why I was singing, everybody gave glory because he said he wanted to do an inspirational song.”

“I spoke to my manager this morning. After the video shoot, I came back to my management telling him I think there is some endorsement for Nana Akufo-Addo in the song because the second verse he talks about ‘Nana Toaso’ and the last bit of the song which I did not hear when I was on set because the song never got to the last bit of it.”

“I didn’t hear the Battle is the Lord’s in the song while I was on set but me being a normal Ghanaian that understands everything going on in the country, I know that when you say ‘Nana toaso’ not about the fact that it’s something that the NPP people are using right now. So I told my management that I think Sark did an endorsement for Nana on the song and they asked if I was for real. So the second part was an endorsement.”

The Angela hitmaker, who has been called out for his collaboration with rapper Sarkodie for a new song titled ‘Happy Day’, added that, he was not the right person to confront the ace rapper about the issue, the more reason he kept mute.

“So there is something about management that you don’t fight your fight and for me, this isn’t a fight. It is about confronting their management and that this is what’s going on and this is what we have heard. I’m not the one to confront Sark. I was mute throughout the shoot so we made it a management versus management issue. I was there with my road manager to escort me. But my management Richie Mensah was not there, so I had to get to them to contact them. I did not want to be part of all this.

“I think I have every right to be uncomfortable. It is not about whether or not there was an endorsement, it’s just the fact that I had no idea about it. As a human, I hate to be kept in the shadows. And right now I’m just in the middle. I don’t know what’s going on. I’m just an innocent young guy who did a feature for someone I respect in the industry.”

The musician fears how the situation could affect his career.

“I’m not disappointed but I’m not comfortable that this whole thing is happening.”

“Of course, if it was done with a political mindset it will have a toll on my career I won’t lie. If this is how it is going to end, then it will be sad because when it affects me I will be a young guy who didn’t know and will be part of the story. I don’t talk to Sark. It’s a management-to –a-management issue. If he wants to talk, he needs to call Lynx Entertainment or Richie. I don’t talk to Sark. The last we spoke was at the shoot where he saw me for a long time. That’s why I didn’t confront him.”

On Monday, the rapper made headlines with the new song after listeners and social media users attributed a verse in the song to be an endorsement for the president and his party. The president has since thanked the artist on social media.

Kuami Eugene finally explains why he couldn’t confront Sarkodie on NPP endorsement song

0

Kuami Eugene has been devastated ever since the full version of song he featured with Sarkodie turned out to be a campaign song for the incumbent NPP government.

He made it clear that, he was deceived because he had no intentions of endorsing any political party.

The Lynx Entertainment signee in an interview disclosed the reason he couldn’t directly confront Sarkodie after he realized the song was nothing but a campaign song for NPP.

According to Kuami Eugene, he doesn’t have a close relationship with Sarkodie which will enable him to pick a phone and communicate with him.

While they were working towards the production of the song, Eugene said, he only communicated with Sarkodie’s manager Angel Town.

Kuami Eugene emphasized that, most of the communications were done through the management of both artistes hence he had no idea it was a for a different agenda.

Even though Sarkodie has come out to state in a tweet that it’s not a campaign message for NPP, a lot of Ghanaians feel he was trying to divert attention.
