Cape Coast MCE sends MP to court for defamation

0

The Metropolitan Chief Executive for cape coast, Mr Enerst Arthur, has filed a defamation suit against the national democratic Congress (NDC ) member of parliament for cape coast south,Mr kwaku Ricketts Hagan.

The MCE on Tuesday, October 26, 2020 filed a defamation suit against the MP following what he described as defamatory comments about him by Mr Ricketts-Hagan after his (Arthur’s) confirmation as MCE.

In reference to a press conference held by Mr Kweku Ricketts-Hagan after the confirmation of Mr Arthur as MCE, the MP was alleged to have used unsavoury words to describe the MCE, saying he was unfit to lead the metropolis.

In a writ, Mr Arthur prayed the Cape Coast High Court to restrain Mr Ricketts-Hagan and his agents from further publishing the defamatory statements against his person.

A statement of case accompanying the writ said the defendant (Ricketts -Hagan) knew that the statements he published about him (Mr Arthur) were untrue.

Mr Arthur indicated in the writ that although he was successfully approved by the assembly members as MCE, the MP was bent on tarnishing his image with unprintable words.

It said the statements were made in an environment where the plaintiff, the MCE, was well known and exercised political power.

Reputation injured

Mr Arthur claimed that the statements by Mr Ricketts-Hagan which were broadcast in the media nationwide had seriously injured his reputation and brought it into public scandal and contempt.

Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress in Cape Coast at a press briefing on Monday expressed disappointment over the decision of Mr Ernest Arthur, to sue Mr Ricketts-Hagan in court for alleged defamation.

“His role is to steer development, promote peaceful coexistence and cohesion, ignite the essence of tolerance, unity and most importantly ensure that the two major political parties are at peace in the metropolis,” the party said.

At a press briefing, Mr George Justice Arthur, the NDC Secretary for the Cape Coast North Constituency, said the MCE’s decision to initiate a court action against the MP would set a bad precedent and delay development in the metropolis.

Kinaata is doing well with Hilife but his lyrics are not deep – Alibaba Foster

0

Highlife genre of music started from way back and I can boldly say it is the Genesis of the first group in our music industry in Ghana today.

Some the pioneers of highlife music just to mention a few include Nana Ampadu, Amakye Dede, Kaakyire kwame Appiah, Oheneba Kissi, Alibaba Foster, Papa Yankson and others whom contributed to the great future we see today in the music industry.

Veteran musician and sensational highlife artist widely known as Alibaba Foster, is one of the top Veteran highlife artist Ghana has ever had.

He is creative and talented musician whose songs are still on playlist of many  radio presenters, DJ’s and other downloaded websites.

He produced songs such as “ODO SHOCK” ,”TWESAN” and others all of which became a hit songs since that time till date.

Alibaba Foster who is now an evangelist of God, and currently not into active music, has disclosed in an exclusive interview with Nana Bedide Lucky TV that, although he loves kofi kinaata songs he needs to work more harder on his lyrics.

According to him, after listening to over 15 of Kinaata songs which was been played by one of his friends, he realised the great creativity been displayed by him.

He continued, ” Our high life music we did those times carried a lot of weight and messages which impacted lot of people lives, and I can see that in kinaatas  songs but his lyrics are not deep” he is doing well though.

He urged him to get around people who are more experienced in life especially the old people in the Industry, so he can tap in more of their knowledge for his Music.

New special prosecutor starts on a wrong foot, frees Mahama Ayariga and disgrace ex prosecutor Martin Amidu in court

0

The appointment of a new special prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng was not long ago by the president of Ghana Nana addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.

He replaced the old prosecutor Martin Aminu who Ghanaians talked a lot about that he relaxes and has not brought any unscrupulous people who had stolen from the country to justice since his time of office, the only case I can remember is the one on Mahama Ayariga MP for bawku central.

Kissi Agyabeng after his appointment caused alot of shake on social media, promised to deal with any unscrupulous person who  crosses the line with no Mercy. This comments gave a lot of assurance to Ghanaians and have been waiting to see actions.

Yesterday 11th October,2021 he had his first case taken to court, this was an old case prepared by the old prosecutor Mr Martin Amidu who resigned on 16th november last year, about Mahama Ayariga bawku central MP which has been called to court several times and yet not been dealt with.

His judgement on this case is what Ghanaians think was not in a right step a case which has been in court for quite some time and you see no offence by the accused I don’t think this was right and he also disgrace the old prosecutor in court.
